Makers Space

IN THIS SECTION

Kaimiloa’s Makerspace is a place where students can come to be creative and innovative.  The Makerspace is open to all students in the morning from 7:00-7:30am.  It is also opened during recesses (except for Wednesdays). All students are welcomed to explore different activities (eg. Legos, Hot Wheels cars & ramps, blocks, gears, Bloxels, and Wonder robots) that are available.  We also have different bi-monthly STEM challenges in which students can also complete.  If there is something that students are interested in building or making, he/she is more than welcomed to use the Makerspace to create it in.  There is one very important expectation of all students prior to building, and that is to HAVE A PLAN! All students who want to build anything must sketch what it is that they want to build and label the picture with the  materials they want to use.

During instructional hours, the Makerspace is becomes another flexible learning space available for teachers to sign up and use for various lessons throughout the day.  Teachers may use it to conduct science labs or science experiments. They may also use it as an Engineering Design Lab for students to design and build various projects to solve a given problem.

Feel free to stop by the Makerspace with your child in the mornings to experience it first-hand!
