The environment at Ka'imiloa is centered on the premise that purposeful and relevant experiences stimulate the interest and subsequent engagement with learning for all our students. In this learning environment, students have opportunities and self-motivation to determine their own journey. When given opportunities to try new ideas, solve new problems and generate new "wonderings", students become their own teachers. This we believe is the pathway for developing students who will be prepared for college, career and life.
CHOICE AND VOICE
Choice and Voice are nurtured when students are invited to the many in class, co-curricular and extra curricular activities offered. At Ka'imiloa, whether it is athletics, dance, cheerleading, art, robotics, teacher passion projects to leadership experiences, each opportunity provides choice and voice to our students. These intentional programs provide our children skills, aspirations and passions for their future.
In the Library, students can participate in various activities to further extend learning that is taking place in the classroom.
Learning here at Kaimiloa isn't just about academics. We strive to create a physical space where students can collaborate, innovate and engage in their learning simultaneously. Creating a learning space requires our staff to put students at the core of instruction. Our learning spaces provide opportunities for movement, various groupings, hands-on exploring, creating, and building while embedding the soft skills that will allow them to apply what they are learning in order to make a difference in the world.
Makerspace is one of our learning spaces where students can come in to create, build while using the engineering design process.
